Exploring Zimbabwe Up Close: The Thrill of Walking Safaris

Zimbabwe, a landlocked country in Southern Africa, is known for its unspoiled wilderness, diverse landscapes, and abundant wildlife. Whilst we all love a good game drive, if you’re looking for a real adventure, a walking safari is an experience like no other. Walking safaris offer a one-of-a-kind, up-close encounter with the African bush, immersing you in nature in an exhilarating way. The sensation of tracking lions through the bush or cautiously approaching an elephant on foot is nearly impossible to put into words, but we’ll try: heart-racing, thrilling, awe-inspiring. Even simply stepping out of the vehicle and strolling through landscapes inaccessible by car adds a new dimension to your safari. Your guide will have the time to point out and discuss plants and smaller animals, equally deserving of our attention and fascination. The wealth of knowledge you can gain on a walking safari is nothing short of incredible.

Zimbabwe’s guides are well-placed to conduct walking safaris, having gone through rigorous training and passing stringent exams to obtain their professional licences.  Zimbabwe is celebrated for its exceptional guides, who are considered some of the best in the industry, and the country has a well-earned reputation for maintaining high standards when it comes to guide training and certification. This dedication to quality has made Zimbabwe a world-class destination for those seeking authentic and informed wildlife encounters. These guides are the backbone of the safari experience, possessing the expertise and knowledge necessary to ensure your journey is both safe and educational.

Our Top Tips

Go Earth-Toned: Ditch anything light, white, or bright. We’re aiming for stealth mode, seamlessly merging with the natural bush colours so as not to draw attention from the animals.

Sturdy Footwear:
Good shoes are a must. You’ll be traversing various terrains, from tall grass to thorny patches and rocky ground. Comfort and durability are key.

Sunscreen Shield:
Slather on that sunscreen and don’t forget to pack or wear a long-sleeved shirt to keep those harmful rays at bay. The sun’s no joke, especially on those long walks!
